2024 July Character Camp

It was a really fun week with all the kids!

MONDAY:

It went very smoothly- our large staff is working so hard to make sure we can accomplish everything we set out to do. The kids, 20 or so of them, enjoyed playing games in the morning, chapel time lunch and the afternoon rotation stations which were bread making, watercoloring feathers, tomahawk and knife throwing and swimming at the river.

TUESDAY:

Three of our young people, Micah, Ellie, and Averie shared their testimonies (Monday and Tuesday chapels) and it's been really impactful for the kids that have come. Some of the older teens said that the testimonies have been way better than the teaching we've done in the past, so that's really neat to hear! A lot of the EBC youth have had chances to have good conversations with the kids. Around 40 kids came today and we did similar stations to yesterday except the craft was glue and salt paintings which were really neat and archery.

WEDNESDAY:

We ran on time today which was very nice! Unfortunately, the Keller Boys and Girls Club wasn't able to make it so we had a smaller group of around 25-30 kids. The kids enjoyed painting, baking pretzels, throwing tomahawks and knives, and swimming. Quite a few of our team members were able to talk with those from tribe!

We had dry lightning which increased the chances of a fire. We know that one started around the Grand Coulee area across the river, but there were lightning strikes on our side as well.  Thankfully no fires started near us, but we definitely got the smoke from the surounding fires.

THURSDAY:

Unfortunately, because of the dry lighting, our power wet out all morning at the ranch on Thursday. This stopped us from being able to host the last day of camp with the kids which was disappointing for all of us. It did allow us to finish up some more projects and gave everyone time to rest and enjoy the amenities here at the ranch! We look forward to seeing the kids in August!
